MEMBER HIGHLIGHT: Carousel Horse Antiques & Home Decor

Ms. Virginia Brown opened the business in March of 2018 with her husband, veteran Mr. Jimmy Brown. When Mr. Jimmy passed away from cancer in May of 2019, Virginia wanted to continue on with business and was very thankful for her vendors that stepped in and helped her manage the daily operations. Originally the store was more antiques, but now they have a mix of vintage items to evoke memories. They are also looking to the future, meeting the needs of those looking for the most trendy of home decor.

Ms. Virginia says, "We want our store to feel like home. We have so much fun meeting new people that come in and catching up with our regular customers. We work hard to make sure we have an approachable and comfortable store from the smell when you walk in to the music playing as you shop."

Being a part of this community has been very important to their business. They have donated trains to the museum, donated gifts to fundraisers, and they try to support the other local businesses.

"I draw maps for people that aren't from here to tell them where to eat and where to shop. Someone joked the other day and asked me if I worked for the Chamber."

Having an open line of communication is important in meeting the needs of what people are looking for as they shop.

Is there anything you think we are missing? Do you collect something that you can't find anywhere in Fayetteville that we can get in the store?

"We were becoming collectors, and it was my husband's dream to share our collection with others. That's why we're still here."

They have a wide selection of gifts for any occasion to meet any budget.

"We're all one big family. We need to help each other and appreciate each other. We became a member of Main Street, because we had become members of other organizations and didn't see much response or value. Aimee came in and took 2 pictures, and we had a phenomenal week the week after. We saw immediate results and value, people were able to find us, and we were excited with the new audience. We love what Main Street is doing to bring visitors to downtown but to Fayetteville in general."

Come by and see them at 1115B Huntsville Highway, Fayetteville, TN 37334. Turn in between the old Shorty's and Wilson's Plant City. They are open Wed, Thurs, and Fri 10-5 and Sat 10-4. Or you can reach Ms. Virginia on her cell phone at 256-603-7267.
